EURAXESS ASEAN is a network for internationally mobile researchers. We provide information on funding and career opportunities in Europe and around the world, and offer platforms for networking and sharing of best practices.
EURAXESS ASEAN organizes or co-organizes information and networking events across ASEAN. Each event addresses topics of interest to the multidisciplinary community of researchers in ASEAN.
EURAXESS ASEAN organises two annual flagship events;
“Advancing your research career in Europe: Funding and Fellowship opportunities for Researchers in Southeast Asia”
This event offers and opportunity to engage with representatives of leading research organizations and funding agencies from across Europe and to find out about the variety of fellowship and mobility schemes open to Southeast Asian researchers. The programme focuses on information about available opportunities for career advancement by working at labs, universities, research institutes and companies across Europe. The event also includes hands-on advice from invited alumni of various European programmes.
In 2016, “Advancing your research career in Europe: Funding and Fellowship opportunities for Researchers in Southeast Asia” took place on Hanoi, Vietnam and Bangkok, Thailand on 11 May and 13 May respectively. The event report can be accessed here. (insert hyperlink)
“European Research Day – Science Communication Workshop Series”
This very hands-on event focuses on providing motivated, highly talented researchers in ASEAN with a set of science communication skills so as to increase the number of successful applications to European funding and fellowship programs by researchers based in ASEAN. Each workshop covers the range of skills needed to enable the researchers to effectively promote themselves and communicate their science to a wide and variable audience, using the plethora of tools available today. Each workshop is led by an expert trainer from Europe.
In 2016, science communication workshops are planned in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore and Jakarta in the 4th quarter of 2016. Details will be announced here shortly.
EURAXESS ASEAN country representatives frequently address researchers during on-site visits to universities, research institutes and companies across ASEAN. During the visit the EURAXESS ASEAN representative will introduce the services offered by the EURAXESS network to assist researchers who would like to embark on a research mobility experience in Europe. The representative will present on existing research cooperation and career opportunities in Europe or with European partners. Eligibility and application procedure to key European researcherer mobility programmes, including the European Research Council (ERC) and the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions MSCA, will also be introduced.
