The ERC is a flagship component of Horizon 2020’s Excellent Science. ERC is a top funding body providing funding for excellent researchers of any nationality, to carry out frontier research in Europe, via annual competitions. The ERC's mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence.

ERC-NSFC Implementing Arrangement for active holders of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants. They can undertake single (6- 12 months) and long-term or multiple short term research visits (e.g. for joint experiments), becoming part of teams led by ERC grant holders in Europe.
